Midcentury Modern Nursery Remodel
For the past year, I’ve used my apartment’s second bedroom as an Airbnb rental, but now that we’re closing in on the baby’s due date, it’s time to make room for the baby! I’ll do a follow up post on how to make extra cash renting out a spare bedroom, but for now we’ll focus on the remodel into a nursery.
As you may know, most of what I like to share on Femme Nouveau in regard to travel, fashion, and decor are all very practical. That means I spend where I need to, but I try to find the most cost effective solutions for just about everything. So for the nursery, I wanted to be just as frugal yet stylish as the rest of our apartment. We were able to remodel our master bedroom using just a little paint, so I figured we could transform our spare bedroom just the same.
This is how the room looked before, with most of the items purchased from Ikea and Amazon. We were able to keep one of the open faced closet systems to use as a book and toy shelf, and we kept the daybed for our family and friends who come to visit.
For the nursery, we went for a minimal midcentury modern style, with a nature and sky theme. We found this Babyletto Hudson crib which normally retails for $379 on LetGo for $60! Such a great find. We also love tapestries, because we can easily change the vibe of the room just by changing the fabric. We went with a Society6 style modern sun/mountain design which normally retails for $45 on Amazon for $16. Full details and links for the other items below!
