Letter from the Editor
I had a moment this weekend where I laid in bed and couldn’t get to sleep. My mind was pretty restless, it felt like I was searching for an answer to a question I didn't even know.
For a long time, I’ve been stuck in my head. I think a lot of people are, too. We turn ourselves inward. We think about ourselves, what we think of others, what we think about the world…all ideas about things we believe define who we are. The crazy thing is, we are not our thoughts; you are not your mind and you are not what you think.
When we turn ourselves inward, we also have a habit of disengaging from the present moment. Our minds drift into thought about the past, family, obligations, of the future, and what it could be. But we miss the present moment entirely. We never really experience what's happening right now.
Anyway, there I was. Restless in bed for another night, thinking about things I wouldn't yet have an answer to. And then it dawned on me; I’m not meant to.
Right now, I was to know love.
It really is amazing when you realize love doesn’t come from being with someone, or having family, or friends to experience love with. Those are all wonderful, but that isn’t the full beauty of love. Love doesn't require another body. It has to resonate so deeply that you have it no matter who you’re with. Love is a very personal relationship.
I don’t know where all this is going to take me, but I'm embracing every moment of my life now. I am so grateful that you guys allow me to share my journey with you here at Femme Nouveau! Not only that, but you're going to hear from some dope individuals I've met along the way. I've got some stories to tell!
Stay tuned.
Lisa xx
